Woodstock Engagement Photo Session With Jen and Lindsay

Jen and Lindsay met in the school musical when they were both in middle school and their first dance together was during the show, waltzing as John Adams and Martha Jefferson! They have both been very into music from high school chorale to taking guitar and piano lessons as adults. They became really close friends in high school, when they learned that they both liked to write and have been writing buddies ever since.

When I learned about the music connection I asked them to be sure and bring their guitars to the engagement session so we could get some photos of the two of them playing together. All love is beautiful, but Jen and Lindsay have such a wonderful connection and sense of fun about them, it was a joy to photograph their engagement and I cannot wait until their wedding this summer at Echo Lake Inn.

Their engagement photo session was here at Featherstone in Woodstock, Vermont and we started in the wilder, natural areas of the property with the late afternoon sun low in the sky behind them.

Whether photographing a wedding, family, high school senior or couples, all my clients receive their images in both color and black and white and I always try and capture those natural candid moments as well as some editorial posed images as well.

It is very important for my wedding couples to book and engagement session with me and this is usually included in their wedding package. Engagement sessions help us to get to know each other and also lets me learn their best angles, ways to get them relaxed and helps them to understand the way I work, so on the wedding day we are always on the same page and know exactly what to expect from each other.

In Jen and Lindsay's case it was also great to be able to get some photographs of them with their guitars, something that would not be possible on their wedding day.

When I zoomed in on the close of up Lindsay's engagement ring, I noticed the beautiful engraving work on her guitar and decided that would be a great "prop" for the detail photographs of both rings.

Here is a gallery of a few more of my favorite engagement photos from the day and I cannot wail to photograph their beautiful LBGTQ wedding this summer at Echo Lake Inn.

Vermont has long been a beautiful destination for LBGTQ weddings and engagements and I feel so fortunate to be able to live and work in such an amazing state. The wedding industry did take quite a hit with Covid but for the most part all my couples acquiesced to the Vermont guidelines and either postponed their 2020 wedding or scaled down the numbers, social distanced and made masks mandatory for anyone not seated. Please check back for my next blog about a lovely Covid responsible micro wedding at the Red Clover Inn.

In the meantime be sure and contact me with any of your wedding, engagement or portrait photography requests. I look forward to hearing from you!
