Intimate Elopement at The Apple Hill Inn, Woodstock, VT

Richard and Judith had a beautiful, intimate, elopement at the lovely Apple Hill Inn, Woodstock, Vermont  and it was a pleasure to be able to share their special day with them. It was just the two of them and their day was absolutely perfect!

For over 34 years, Beverlee, the owner of Apple Hill, has hosted guests from all over the world. First at the Apple Butter Inn, and now at her stunning Apple Hill Inn. Located in the Woodstock, Vermont, neighborhood of Taftsville, you will love the breathtaking views, delicious and healthy breakfasts, luxurious guests room and Beverlee’s engaging personality.

Weddings and elopements at Apple Hill Inn are always a special event. The inn offers couples distinct spaces in which to hold a ceremony and reception and they can customize the Inn to accommodate your vision and needs. Whether you prefer hosting a gala event in the historic and recently renovated barn, or you prefer the elegant clean lines of the Veranda and Atrium, Apple Hill Inn will be the ultimate wedding or elopement experience for any couple looking for a scenic Vermont venue.

Annie Alexander-Kramer-The Parsonne was the officiant and this was one of our A Wedding Awaits elopement packages in which we offer full Vermont and New Hampshire elopement planning services including my professional photography, Annie as the officiant and bridal bouquet as well as lots of other extras if requested. In Judith and Richard's elopement Beverlee provided the champagne and cocktail nibbles and the beautiful arbor and flowers were from Chalifour Flowers of Manchester, New Hampshire

The views over the Ottaquechee River to the Woodstock, Vermont hillside were spectacular and this was just one of the several ceremony sites available for wedding or elopement ceremonies.

Since this was just the two of them, there were no getting ready or family photos to capture, but I did take some photos of Judith's beautiful wedding dress and Richard's tux and a couple candid shots after they arrived. With my telephoto lenses and the very spacious and grand rooms at the inn, social distancing was easy.

While they were dressing, I also had time to photograph a few detail images of the wedding rings, beautiful flowers and some other mementoes and wedding day essentials.

Judith loved that her perfume said "endless euphoria" so I wanted to make sure you could actually read that in my photograph. With macro lenses and the amazing Sony system, close up details are a cinch.

Being Covid responsible whenver social distancing was not possible masks were worn. I just love Annie's fancy lace mask in keeping with her wedding ceremony attire.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the ceremony, which was in one of the most beautiful locations I have ever photographed in the Woodstock, Vermont area.

After the ceremony we all walked back to the veranda where Judith and Richard enjoyed some of the champagne and horderves Beverlee had so graciously provided. Then we went off on a brief elopement romance photo session.

Just one of the many things I love about small intimate weddings and elopements is the stress free romance photo session with my couples after the ceremony. With no guests to worry about and no time crunch we are free to enjoy the location and have a super fun, relaxed photo session. The entire elopement day photography was only 2.5 hours, so it gives you an idea of how much we can cover when there are no distractions or large groups of formal photos to deal with.

After a quick romance session around the beautiful grounds and gardens, Judith and Richard went back to the veranda for some more champagne and cake before heading up to their suite to relax and change before a romantic dinner in Woodstock.

Judith and Richard shared a day focused on just the two of them. They wanted to strip away the pressure, anxiety and obligation they felt about having a traditional wedding and instead they wanted a day authentic to them, which aligned with their values and vision. They wanted a “just us” experience and so often I am hearing this from my elopement and micro-wedding couples.

Elopements are beautiful options for people who don’t feel like the traditional wedding route is the right fit for them and with the Covid restrictions on weddings and large gatherings, an intimate elopements or micro-wedding makes perfect sense.
